How Greenmile is different

There are lots of websites offering carbon offset. The BBC website even explains how they work (have a look at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6274325.stm). Other offset schemes offer the chance to pay someone to plant trees or pay for projects that reduce carbon emissions. Although these are all worthy projects greenmile offers something different. With greenmile we buy the right to emit carbon so that we know exactly how much carbon would have been emitted. We then give you the chance to have that allocated to your usage.

If you invest in tree planting, do you know where the trees are and whether you can water them when its dry? With greenmile you can share in directly contracted CO2 emission reduction without the doubt about, for example with tree planting, who owns the land? Who gets the timber? What species are planted?

With greenmile you exactly how much you have removed.

So if you drive a 4 x 4 and have bought the CO2 tonnage from greenmile then you know that your driving adds no new carbon to the atmosphere because you have bought the right to emit - you are carbon neutral! That's the difference.
